A transpersonal experience is an experience of being out-of-body, out-of-place and/or out-of-time. The word is used for a number of phenomena studied in transpersonal psychology. The state can be achieved in dreams, through psychedelic drugs or spontaneously.

An example given by Stanislav Grof involves a woman who experience being her grandmother as a child during an LSD session.
