Reuel or Raguel - רְעוּאֵל "Friend of/is God", Standard Hebrew Rəʿuʾel, Tiberian Hebrew Rəġûʾēl, also דְּעוּאֵל, Standard Hebrew Dəʿuʾel, Tiberian Hebrew Dəġûʾēl. Biblical persons with this name are: (1.) A son of Esau. (Gen. 36:4, 10; 1 Chr. 1:35) (2.) Another name of Jethro, "The priest of Midian," father-in-law of Moses (Ex. 2:18). This may be regarded as his proper name, and Jether or Jethro (i.e., "excellency") as his official title. (3.) A Gadite (Num. 2:14), called also Deuel. (1:14; 7:42) (4.) A Benjaminite. (1 Ch. 9:3.7,8) (5.) Father-in-law of Tobias (Tobit 7:1,15) Also: (6.) Within the rabbinic tradition and the Kabbalah, one of the seven archangels.
