Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet (January 5 1938 - ), who also goes under the name Thea, is an astrologer, esoteric cosmologist, author and founder of the Aeon Centre of Cosmology. She arrived at Sri Aurobindo's Ashram in Pondicherry, India in 1971 and continued to live there until 1980, seven years after the Mother's death (1973). She then broke with the movement and moved to the Palani Hills, in southern India where she runs the Aeon Centre of Cosmology. Details of her arrival in India, her time in Pondicherry and seeds of her eventual move to the Palani Hills can be found in her autobiography,

She developed her own interpretation of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother's teachings in terms of astrological and numerological symbolism, elaborated in several books and a number of essays, especially and her opus The New Way. However her interpretation of Vedic symbolism (Norelli-Bachelet 2002) has been strongly criticised (Rajaram 2002). Whereas modern Vedic Astrologers use the Sidereal

Zodiac in individual and collective interpretations, Norelli-Bachelet writes that the Tropical Zodiac is the measure of individual and collective movements in time. She writes that the Tropical Zodiac is referred to in the Rid Veda (much to the surprise dismay of many modern Vedic astrologers and scholars). Whereas most astrologers/cosmologist claim one zodiac system is "wrong" and the other "right", Norelli-Bachelet writes that the function of both must be understood in order to illuminate man's journey in time. She also writes that modern Vedic astrologers (who she calls "Post Vedic) calculate the figure of the yuga (age) wrongly. In her view the measurement of figure of the yuga - 432,000 (which is also the radius of the sun in miles)- is arcseconds of the 360 degrees of celestial longitude of the Sun's ecliptic plane, not years or days. She writes that the yuga should be understood in terms of the 25,920 year , in which 432,000 arcseconds equals one third of the whole Precession or 8640 years (4 astrological ages of 2160 years each). Norelli-Bachelt asserts that the Age of Aquarius began precisely in 1926.

Some of her claims have alienated her from other disciples of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. In The New Way, Volumes 1 & 2 and on

her websites she argues that the original dimensions of the , and other details laid out by the Mother in 1970, have been altered in the constructed version (Norelli-Bachelet 1983). This has been disputed by those who were involved in the construction of the Matrimandir.

Even more controversially, Ms Norelli-Bachelet claims that she is an integral part of the avataric line initiated by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, calling herself "The Third". In her own words, "The Third is a part of the triangular manifestation, without which there can be no Supramental Descent which hinges entirely on this tri-part nucleus, plus a Fourth." Norelli-Bachelet writes that "the Fourth", her son born in 1963, is the reincarnation of Sri Aurobindo.
