Louise Hay is the American bestselling author of Heal Your Body and You Can Heal Your Life. She attended the Church of Religious Science in New York city in the early 1970's and became a popular counselor. During this time she compiled the basis for her books.

Controversial Ideas

Much of Hay's writings focus on the metaphysics of the human mind/body; the relationship between "dis-ease" in the mind and disease in the body. She also extends this concept to incidents (usually negative) that occur in everyday life. Her two most well known books Heal Your Body and You Can Heal Your Life associate physical problems such as cancer with specific negative emotional patterns and claim that if

you heal the emotional components that the physical conditions heal. Her book Heal Your Body associates each vertebra in the back with such an emotion. This idea has been highly controversial in some circles.

Louise Hay is recognised as an important figure in the "new" New Age movement, with her company Hay House publishing many New Age and holistic health-themed books and other media. She is the primary publisher of audio books by Deepak Chopra and Doreen Virtue as well as all books by Wayne Dyer.
