Five Rhythms is a system of Ecstatic Movement Practice devised by Gabrielle Roth in the 1960's.

The practice centers around five rythms

  • flow
  • staccato
  • chaos
  • lyrical
  • stillness

and collectivly thay are called The Wave. The principle behind the practice is that as we progress through life we pass though each of the five rhyths. By dancing in each of the five styles it helps the practioner to understand their life. In can be called a type of Dance Therapy.

Today the Five Rythms has grown into an international movment with many classes in the US and the UK.
